ALL NEW- Gore Vent and Housing

This is our all new vent/housing that we developed after 20 years of vent use. It's designed to be easier to install, stronger bond with less work and less risk of mistakenly getting epoxy in the threads. And the housing is machined locally.

We’ve been using woven teflon vents in all of our boards for years now. Installed properly, they let air pass through, but not water, allowing air pressure in the board to equalize with the atmosphere. They never need to be opened or closed. 

The new vents are high air flow, with a courser (less fragile, easier to thread) and are manufactured to a high standard by Gore here in the USA. 

Housing installation can vary from board to board and it’s up to each builder to work out their own installation. The housing is installed into the board much like leash cup using a 1" Forstener Bit. The difference is, after installation, you drill down through the housing and blocking into the airspace in your board. Then use a 16mm socket to instal the vent into the housing.  Once in place they are strong and safe. These are lifetime vents, never needing replacing. We do recommend keeping them clear of wax and sand and rinsing them from time to time with fresh water.

Warning- Use care and caution when installing and be sure the socket you use is fully engaged on the vent and that the o-ring on the vent is compressed onto the housing.
