Milled Bookmatched Cedar Planks
Milled Bookmatched Cedar Planks
In our ever growing efforts to support home builders, we're excited to offer milled and bookmatched Northern White Cedar Planks (Thuja occidentalis) from right here in Maine. Cedar has a long history and connection to surfing. The very first hollow wood boards were made from cedar (think California Redwood) due to it's high strength to weight properties.
This is the same wood we build our boards from and we'll send it to you in the same state that we begin building from. Planks are planed, straightened and re-sawn to a strong 1/4" thickness and can be purchased in 6', 8' and 10' lengths. Individual plank widths will vary from 3"- 7" depending on what we have, but we'll make sure they add to cover the top or bottom of a standard 24" wide surfboard. Just lay them out and glue them up and you're well on your way.
Note that plank tones and colors will vary from board to board. Colors can vary from a honey brown to an almost white. While we avoid big knots, some planks could have some small knots. Try to embrace them, they're what gives the wood it's character.
Makes a great add-on if you're buying paper plans or a frameset. Note that cedar planks ARE included in our HomeGrown Kits.
Order 6', 8' or 10' planks and we'll make sure you have enough bookmatched pairs to make a panel for one side of a board (up to 24" wide or so). If you're looking for top and bottom planks, be sure to double your order.
10' PLANKS NEED TO SHIPPED FREIGHT. ONCE WE RECEIVE YOUR ORDER, WE WILL GET THE BEST SHIPPING QUOTE THAT WE CAN AND WE'LL BE IN TOUCH WITH NEW TOTAL. YOUR ORDER WILL NOT BE SHIPPED UNTIL WE COLLECT THIS BALANCE. THANKS.
