Paipos hold a special place in our hearts, and if you've kicked around the shop over the years, you've seen lots of shapes and sizes in hollow and solid construction, using a wide range of materials including wood, cork, recycled PET, and more.

The Puffin is our second hollow paipo (the Leaf was the first) and is inspired by some early spoon kneeboards by the likes of George Greenough. Often the most challenging boards to build are the shortest ones, and the Puffin is no exception. The bottom has belly in the nose and a nice subtle concave coming off the tail. But that's not all. The deck is built in two pieces in order to accommodate the dished out spoon and tapering rails. This board is thin and wide through the tail, providing lots of planing surface, with a sweet concave deck to hold you in the pocket. Set up as a twin fin with FCS plugs, you have options for no fins, small single tab fins or larger keels, depending on your preference. If you like to surf prone (or even on your knees), this board is a must-have!

Note, hollow paipos (unlike solid wood boards that are simply oiled) are glassed to seal them. So they require the same care of any glassed surfboard to prevent the glass from cracking.
